Nature of Technology: Relationships Among Technologies
presentation Presentation: Relationships Among Technologies

In this lesson, you will examine what technology transfer is and the positive interdependence of math, science, and engineering as they relate to technology design. These presentations will cover the following concepts:

  • Technology transfer occurs when a new user applies an existing innovation developed for one purpose in a different function. (ITEA 3-G)
  • Technological innovation often results when ideas, knowledge, or skills are shared within a technology, among technologies, or across other fields. (ITEA 3-H)
  • Technological ideas are sometimes protected through the process of patenting. (ITEA 3-I)
  • Technological progress promotes the advancement of science and mathematics (ITEA 3-J)

Relationships Among Technologies:

As technologies develop, they impact and develop other technologies. An advance in one area of technology, math, or science, effects many other areas. This presentation looks at technology transfer and the relationships among technologies, math, and science.

Patents and the Patent Process:

This presentation describes the process of conducting a patent search and applying for a patent. You will apply this content in an activity that follows this presentation.
