| Assignment:
Core Concepts ID
Although not all systems include all core concepts and technologies,
all systems integrate aspects of the core concepts and technologies. How
do the core technologies work together within a complex system? How are
the core concepts of technology applied within a system? Your task for
this assignment is to pick a system and identify the core concepts and
core technologies within the system. For example,
in an aquarium, the following technological systems exist:
- Thermal: heats the aquarium
- Structural: supports the aquarium, contains the water
- Mechanical: pumps air into the tank
- etc.
In that same aquarium, the core concepts of systems, optimization (water
temperature, light, plant growth, feeding), resources, controls, and others,
exist and work together.
Assignment Guidelines:
Core Concepts ID (20 points)
Complete this OR the What's
My System? discussion. Select a system similar to the one
provided in the example above. Select a system that integrates as
many core concepts and technologies as possible. Identify the core
concepts and core technologies in the system and explain how they
work together in the system. Each student will:
- Select and describe complex
system that integrates many if not all of the core concepts and
core technologies. Your description should include an image of
the system, the function or purpose of the system, who uses it
and where it can be found. (5 points)
- Identify all the core technologies
that are applied to the systems and briefly describe each. (5
points)
- Identify all the core concepts
of technology that are involved in the system and briefly describe
each. (5 points)
- Write a brief explanation of
how two or more of the core technologies or core concepts work
together in the system to contribute to the overall function of
the system. (5 points)
Compile all part of the assignment in one file and submit it to
the Core Concepts ID Dropbox before the due date
listed on the course calendar. |
