Introduction:

How good are you at troubleshooting a problem? With today’s technological advances, we don’t know if a simple repair will cost a few dollars or a few thousand dollars. We rely upon others for help and advice for a simple leak to a major malfunction. In this lesson we will study how to logically troubleshoot any technological problem using a systematic approach.

Outcomes: Develop an understanding of the role of troubleshooting, research and development, invention and innovation, and experimentation in problem solving. (ITEA 10)
  • Research and development is a specific problem-solving approach that is used intensively in business and industry to prepare devices and systems for the marketplace. (ITEA 10-I)
  • Technological problems must be researched before they can be solved. (ITEA 10-J)
  • Not all problems are technological and not every problem can be solved using technology. (ITEA 10-K)
  • Many technological problems require a multidisciplinary approach. (ITEA 10-L)
